Three Filipino-Canadian siblings—Ramone, Jace, and Maya Lavina—aged 6 to 15, tragically lost their lives in a fatal car crash early Sunday, May 18, in Toronto.

According to multiple reports, their black Chrysler Pacifica was stopped at a red light when it was violently struck by a silver Dodge Caravan driven by a suspected drunk driver.
ABS-CBN, citing a Toronto Police report, stated the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. at the eastbound off-ramp from Highway 401 to Renforth Drive.
“The Dodge Caravan was traveling at a high rate of speed on the Renforth Drive exit ramp, lost control, and collided with the Chrysler Pacifica at the intersection,” police confirmed.

The van was carrying six people.
The 40-year-old male driver, a 35-year-old woman, and a 10-year-old child sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital.
However, “three passengers of the Chrysler Pacifica, a 15-year-old child, a 13-year-old child, and a 6-year-old child, died as a result of the collision,” police added.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan, identified as 19-year-old Ethan Lehouillier of Georgetown, Ontario, now faces multiple charges including impaired operation causing death, impaired operation causing bodily harm, and dangerous driving offenses.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed his sorrow on X (formerly Twitter), saying he is “heartbroken by the tragic and senseless deaths of three young children.”
He added, “The person responsible for this heinous act needs to face the harshest punishment possible.”

Still in other news, a 65-year-old man, Nestor Rensales, died after voting in Oas, Albay during the midterm elections. Rensales, a stroke survivor, felt dizzy and collapsed shortly after casting his vote at Oas South Central Elementary School, ABS-CBN reported. His wife shared that he insisted on voting despite the heat and early crowd, believing his vote still mattered. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
