
2 household goods merchants killed in Basilan gun attack
TWO merchants of household goods were killed in a gun attack in a remote village in Basilan province, the police said Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
The Basilan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) identified the fatalities as Radzmel Jumadil, 25, of Mariki village, Zamboanga City; and Adih Villacura, 21, of Purok 5, Aguada village, Isabela City, Basilan.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, in Sitio Lingasug, Mangalut village, Akbar, Basilan.
Investigation showed the victims were aboard a tricycle when waylaid by unidentified gunmen.
The police said the victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died instantaneously.
The gunmen fled toward the mountainous area of Mangalut village.
The police said the victims were on a door-to-door sale of household goods at the time of the incident.
Police investigation continued Tuesday, June 3, to determine the motive and identify the gunmen. (SunStar Zamboanga)
