A 17-year-old Pakistani TikTok star, Sana Yousaf, was shot and killed at her home in Islamabad, just days after celebrating her birthday.

The suspect, a 22-year-old man, had reportedly tried multiple times to contact her online.
According to Agence France-Presse, Yousaf had over one million followers across her social media platforms, including 800,000 on TikTok.
She was known for her lip-sync videos, skincare tips, and beauty product promotions.

Just hours before her death on Monday night, she posted a birthday video, cutting a cake.
“It was a case of repeated rejections. The boy was trying to reach out to her time and again,” Islamabad police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said in a news conference.
He added, “It was a gruesome and cold-blooded murder.” The suspect was arrested after being seen loitering near her home.
While the tragedy shocked many, disturbing online reactions emerged, with some attempting to justify the killing due to Yousaf’s social media presence.
Women’s rights activist Nighat Dad condemned these views, saying, “The vile comments under news of Sana’s murder aren’t just hateful noise, they’re part of a mindset that normalizes violence against women in Pakistan.”
She stressed that such attitudes embolden abusers against women “who dare to be visible.”
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan noted that violence against women remains widespread, including attacks on women who refuse marriage proposals.
In 2021, a woman was b3headed by her boyfriend after rejecting his proposal.
A similar case occurred last May when a Mexican beauty influencer was shot dead during a TikTok livestream.

Two male minors were apprehended by police authorities in Tondo, Manila for car plate theft. The minors, one aged 15 years old and the other 16 years old, were taken into custody for allegedly stealing license plates from at least 12 vehicles in a vacant lot during a rainstorm on June 2, 2025.
