A 14-year-old boy admitted to killing his nephew, an 8-year-old boy, in Binalbagan town in Negros Occidental.

Last Saturday afternoon, November 23, police found the lifeless, mutilated body, of the 8-year-old boy.

According to a report by iFM Bacolod 943, Rolly Villaespin, the father of the victim, he last saw his 8-year-old son around 6 AM on November 19, Tuesday, when he left their house in Sitio Omot, Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, to attend his classes in school.

After his son failed to come home that day, Villaespin assumed his son stayed with his aunt as his aunt’s home was only an hour’s walk away from his school, while theirs is a bit further away.

But when his son still hasn’t returned by November 22, he asked for his boy’s whereabouts with his aunt and found out that he wasn’t there either.

Villaespin then reported his son as missing to the barangay officials and the Binalbagan municipal polise.

Last Saturday, November 23, the 8-year-old boy’s mutilated body was found in the middle of a field, which was only a couple of meters away from his aunt’s house.

At the same time, authorities discovered blood-stained clothing belonging to the 8-year-old boy’s 14-year-old uncle.

The 14-year-old suspect subsequently confessed to attacking his nephew with a bolo, though did not say what his motive was for doing the brutal deed.

Since the suspect is a minor, authorities turned him over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development for proper intervention and disposition.

As of now, the Binalbagan town Chief of Police, Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, said investigations are still ongoing as to the motive of the crime and establishing what really happened.
